Bank rec error

We are new to MAS500.  I inadvertently and erroneously, entered an incorrect beginning bank balance as of 1/1/10 in CM.

After trying some things, I thought, as long as ending balance is correct, I am out of balance in January and the February Beginning balance would be ok.

Well, the bank side is now right, but the book ending balance is still out of whack.

I am just a user, and our consultants who have access to SQL, dint think they can change the January beginning balance.  (I practised my fix in test, production January BR is not posted).

Are there any procedures showing how we can fix out of balance bank rec?

Re: Bank rec error

The book balance in MAS 500 is the sum of all CM transactions starting from the date of the BB entry. Thus, if there are transactions in CM before that date, they will not be considered.  The simplest - and possibly only permanent - fix for this is to go into the database and change either the amount or date of this transaction or delete that entry.  It is not hard to do, but obviously you have to have access to the database and know where the data is.

Re: Bank rec error

This may be too late for you, but this resolution is listed in the SAGE MAS500 KB:

To adjust an incorrect Statement Beginning Balance, use the steps below:

  1. Enter the correct ending balance from the previous statement and date it one day after your last reconciled statement date. For example, if the last statement date was 3/31/04, use 4/1/04 as the statement date.
  2. Post the batch without clearing any items. The batch is then out of balance, and this is OK.
  3. When entering the next reconciliation, the statement beginning balance would be equal to the ending balance entered in step 1.

Or... you could go into the SQL table and fix it if you have an experienced user.

Hope this helps
