I have little experience with FRx and Mas500's multicurrency module and need to know where to start.  I am under the impression that you must purchase a component for FRx that deals with multicurrency, is that correct?   Once that is installed I'm interested in creating trees that will show financials for several companies that have differing home currencies.  Is this the way to go?

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

I have no information about a milticurrency component for FRx.  Maybe someone else can help you with that.  But, in case you are not already aware, keep in mind that FRx is expected to be replaced next year by a new product called (the last I heard) 'Sage MAS Intelligence.'  This new product is not available yet.  I would guess it will be released with v7.4, or sometime soon afterwards.

Yes, I do know about FRx being replaced -  but I don't think it'll be disappearing too soon.  We wouldn't be able to wait until this new replacement comes out - need reports fairly soon.  

Anyone know about the multicurrency aspect for FRx reporting?

The following is what I understand for the future reporting tool(s).

1. Sage Business Intelligence - This is a multi-purpose reporting tool. It is Excel based. It is a solution from Alchemex that will have templates related to various modules within MAS 500. This can be used by all of the modules for reporting. You can get started with this now by downloading the existing product it just has not templates. However I believe this will be rolling out in July for training via Sage.

2. Sage FR - This is an in-house developed system by Sage to become a GL Financial Reporting solution for lots of their solutions to replace FRx. I am not sure of the timeline on this delivery for MAS 500.

With all that said FRx and multi-currency. You can report on multi-currency as it is collected in your GL based on the financial translation at time of transaction processed in the tranamt and tranamtHC type fields. This will not do any different types of multi-currency conversion at report run time. In order to do this you would need to purchase the FRx multi-currency add-on which provides report level functionality on this similar to the multi-currency module. You need to manage this in FRx.
