Inventory Valuation Report

We seem to be getting some mysterious results from the Inventory Valuation report in the IM module.  If we run the report for a single day (start and end dates = 1/20/2012) for raw material items under a given GL account, most items show up with incorrect inventory values and resulting unit costs.  The quantities on hand are correct.  If we run the report for the interval 1/1/2012 to 1/20/2012, the numbers are all correct.  Is it non standard practice to run this report for single days?  What might explain the different results?

Re: Inventory Valuation Report

I believe that report pulls a beginning balance from timInvtHist for anything before your date range.  Take a look at spimRecalcInvtHist and spimRecalcPeriodHist for recalculating the data in that table.

Re: Inventory Valuation Report

Thanks for the suggestion.  Will check out timInvtHist.  We have the added complication of the O2 add-on from EVS and the fact that we have bad data in the timInvtFiscPerHist and timInvtCalPerHist tables for a few periods back in 2011, which for reasons I don't really understand cannot be fixed, so we have to be very careful in running the inventory history recalc as it will end up carrying the bad data forward to more recent periods.

Re: Inventory Valuation Report

I also found the recalc utilities did not do what I expected.

Re: Inventory Valuation Report

Back to my original problem: Running the inventory valuation report for one-day intervals.  It appears that the stored procedure responsible for calculating the beginning inventory value on a given day simply does it wrong.  Our data appears to be correct in the history and transaction tables, yet if I run one-day reports for each day of the month for one item in one warehouse, there will be many days where the ending balance of one day doesn't match the beginning balance of the next.  If I run the report for an interval beginning on the first day of the month, everything works fine.
