Change an account group for an existing account

I have the account set up, but it automatically defaults to the wrong account group, and I cannot change it. When I go into General Ledger>Main>Account Maintanence, and look up the account I want to change the account group for, the account group box, catagory, and type are unable to be edited. Please advise. Thanks!

Re: Change an account group for an existing account

The Account Group that a G/L Account falls into is based on Account Group Maint on the G/L Setup menu, and then in turn is controlled in Main Account Maint which is also on the G/L Setup menu.  So it would seem you need to use a different Account (Main) # so that it falls into the correct Account Group.

Do you have GL transactions entered for that account?
