W2's

Hello all.  I'm new to MAS 90. We have the current version and I'm getting ready for 4thqtr period end and was looking in the 'Help' section, it says "If performing quarter end for the 4th qtr (year end), print and verify the W-2 forms."  I'm not ready to do the W2's but have to run a payroll this week and need to close the period before I can proceed. I don't understand :-(  Our rep was here mid Dec to help install the new version (apparently there have been issues in the past with installation) and he said since I was doing the qtrly processing via the e-file method I should be able to process my W2's in the current company and not in the 'copy' company. I do not know if this makes any sense.... But the lady who retired trained me and she said I that I would have to do the W2's out of the 'copy' company but nothing else. She said they could not be ran in the 'current' company. She did not use the e-file option.  She did not veer from what she knew how to do to learn a new and easier way.  I am a past Peachtree user and the e-file is the same in PT and MAS so I was familiar with that process (about the only thing in MAS I recognized!!!) I'm just confused and don't want to make a big mess. Thanks for any help.

Re: W2's

I too am going to e file my W2's for the first time this year.  My rep told me that I could only file them from the backup company if I needed to process a  payroll prior to processing the W2's

Re: W2's

Ugh...My rep got back with me yesterday eve and told me it was OK to close out and process the new year PR. That I could do the W2's after all that....in the live company.  Wouldn't have to do anything in the 'copy' company.  Well, I guess since I already did my period end/year end and fixing to process the PR, it will be a watch and see what happens!!! :smileysurprised: when I do the W2's

Re: W2's

I did my W2's via efile and did it all in the current company, after closing period/year end in PR.  So there's no need to have to do it in the back up company. It worked just fine.
