Welcome to the Sage Community. The right way is to talk with your reseller first and do it together the first time. In Inventory there is a utility for deleting parts. It is under the Setup Menu, Utilities. Read the Help files on the topic. Plus talk with your resller.

Welcome!
Use the Inventory Delete/Renumber/Merge Utility. However, an item with transactional history cannot be deleted (which it sounds like you're already aware of) - which is often the case. You may be able to purge some history but typically I recommend creating a ZZZDELETE item, and for all Items you wish to delete, just merge them into the ZZZDELETE item - assuming you're okay with lumping all together.

I'd mark the item as discontinued, or as inactive if you're on 4.4 PU5. If you must delete it, adjust the quantity to zero, then use the Delete and Change Items utility (back up first).
