visual Integrator

Hi - I am new to VI and I am setting up my first job on my own.  It might seem basic but I can't remember my tiny bit of training I had.  In the Inventory Module, i have a set of Item codes that I need to replace with other codes.  I have a .CSV file with both in that file.  In column 1 I have the parts as they currently are in MAS.  In column 2, I have the item codes as they need to be.  I need to replace the item codes and i am not sure how to set up the job.

thanks!!

Re: visual Integrator

Welcome to the forums.

This is not possible.  You can use VI to replace the data in other IM fields, but not the part number itself.
You need to use the renumber feature.  You can import your info into that utility (except maybe in v4.4?) and then run it.

I suggest you try it in a test company first.  And regardless of what you do, make sure you have a good backup before doing the renumber.  It is easy to accidentally merge items & the only way to recover from that is to restore from backup.

Search the forums & read the help files for more assistance on the renumber feature.

Re: visual Integrator

As stated this is not possible. This is because in the item master file the Item Number is the only key and you cannot change the key on a file in this manner. You have to use the Renumber/Merge/Delete utility. Depending on what version of MAS you are on you can import your file into that utility and that will update inventory. It would be best that you review this with your reseller or at least do this in a dummy/test company to see if you have it correct.
