Re: 941 2nd Quarter 2010

I was able to download and save it.  But I didn't run it because I need to know if I will blow up my payroll module because I closed 2nd quarter already.  I'm hoping I'm not the only person in the MAS 90 world that had to close 2nd quarter before this update was issued.

I know that I can restore from backup and redo my two payrolls, but that is really quite an undertaking.  I'm hoping there will be a simplier solution.

Re: 941 2nd Quarter 2010

Last night the patch was for 43 and 44.  This morning, it now includes 41 and 42 AND it is a larger file size.  Is this because it is for all four?  Was there something wrong with last nights?  Should I send a new one out to clients?

It's all about the bottom line!

Re: 941 2nd Quarter 2010

No there's nothing wrong with the patch. As Sage completes testing on forms for earlier versions, those early-version updated 941 forms are being rolled into the patch.

So a growth in file size is expected. Eventually, a single patch file will address 941 form changes for all MAS 90 and 200 versions.

Sorry for the confusion, but if you've sent your clients the appropriate patch for their current MAS 90 and 200 version, there's no need to send another patch. The only changes going forward will be the addition of support for legacy versions.

Re: 941 2nd Quarter 2010

I have already closed 2nd quarter.  Any idea what will happen if I load the update after closing the quarter?  I really do not want to restore from backup and redo two payrolls.

Thanks for your assistance.

Re: 941 2nd Quarter 2010

Does anyone know if/how this will affect the Extended Solutions that are installed.  Will they need to be re-installed after the P/R update is installed?  And if so, will we need an updated version of the Extended Solutions to install after the P/R update?

Re: 941 2nd Quarter 2010

I downloaded the update again this morning and it is a smaller size than last Friday?  It is not for just about all versions, so why is it smaller?

Anyone else notice this?

Re: 941 2nd Quarter 2010

bskeene,

Great Question!  Yes, some Extended Solution titles will be affected by this.  See the attached listing of the affected titles and the versions for those titles.  There is also a phone number listed on the attachment to call if you need to get an update to one of the titles on this list.

Re: 941 2nd Quarter 2010

There are questions in regards to installing the update after you have closed the quarter. The update can and should be installed after the 2nd quarter is closed. ( If you did not install ) It will then prepare you for reporting the 3rd quarter 941. If  you have closed the 2nd quarter and you are on version 4.30 and above and still need to print the 2nd quarter 941 you can print the form using Federal eFiling and Reporting. You need to be on a current support agreement. If you are on versions below 4.30 and prior to closing your 2nd quarter you copied your payroll to a company code you can print from the copied company code that is still in the second quarter. If you created a proper backup prior to closing the quarter you can restore from the backup there are ways that you can do this without re-entering payroll. Our support department can assist you in this process.
