Delete / Change Customers: Error #13

[ Edited ]

We are trying to merge several duplicate accounts (2 become 1), but everytime we run the Merge, the process encounters an error, "'.....\AR_Customer.M4T' does not have correct permissions." The Info button give these details:

13 Error #13: File access mode invalid

Program IT_Customer_bus.pvc

Line 557

...along with other information. If you need it, please let me know. I did some searching of the forums and determined it's an extremely vague error. Any ideas on what it could be? Nearly all the accounts are old IT (from eBusiness) that have been recently recreated due to turnover on the customer's end. Anything would be appreciated.

Re: Delete / Change Customers: Error #13

Hi James,

Generally Error 13's occur when a table or a record in that table is locked.  With the Delete/Change customer, this occurs with the merge to avoid others utilizing the customer record.  If you have not already reported this to support, please do, so we can have someone address this.

Thanks

Elliott

I restarted the server (hardware) and then started the MAS server (software) only, prior to originally trying to make sure it wasn't the web engine causing the issues. Could it be something with Web Services running? Is there a way to disable that temporarily?

Re: Delete / Change Customers: Error #13

You need to shut down the web server and leave it off while you perform this process.

Also make sure there are no extra pvx's hanging out there.  I always have a couple processes linger when I shut down the store and have to clear them with process explorer or reboot the server.

Steve,

I did that already. I rebooted the server to clear any "locked" files after stopping the MAS server and Web Engine. Once loaded (Windows Server 2003), I started only the MAS server and verified those were the only pvx processes running. I never started the Web Engine. I still get the error message though. Could it be something with one of the accounts? Maybe something on one of them is corrupt or incomplete data somewhere.

If I have to, I will do one account at a time and see if that works. I just didn't want to have to key in all 30 changes again... what a task! :smileysad:

Re: Delete / Change Customers: Error #13

I think I ran into this once with an AR contact that might have been deleted.

I would rebuild the EBM and AR key files, then resort and try again.  I would also see if I can notice an AR customer ID or EBM user id key in the error message.  Sometimes you can catch this on one of the error tabs after clicking the info button.
