We have had a few clients accidentally process 2011 payroll with 2010 tax tables installed.  Has anyone possibly written a Recalc Tool that can correct the Fica and put the difference to Federal?  The other option is to issue "Fica reimbursement" checks to the employee.  These clients have several hundred employees so correcting it manually would be a burden.

We have the same issue - has there been any resolution on how to correct FICA withheld?

This is not a "automated" fix by any means and is still going to take extra effort.

Do a payroll run,  selecting manual taxes and no to print checks.  Turn off auto deductions and auto earnings.

Select the employees requiring correction,  do not enter any earnings or deductions.  Click Accept and fill in the adjustment on the manual taxes screen.

Proceed normally.

Very very time consuming and open for additional errors when you have almost 400 employees to fix.  I hoped that Sage would put out a fix for this.  I believe that BW does an auto-correct on the next payroll after you install their tax tables.  I would have thought that MAS being a superior product we would be able to have a fix too...but I guess that's too much to hope for.

Very likely could create a VI job to do it,  but it would probably take more time to write and test than to just bite the bullet and fix it manually.

Reminder to every one to be alert for this in January 2012 when the rates revert back.
