Changes to CTI when using Windows 7

We have been using CTI with Sage CRM 6.2 sucessfully on our Windows XP PC's. Just tried to install it on a Windows 7 PC and CRM doesn't like the CTI set up.
The set up that works perfectly in XP gets the following error in Windows 7: "CTI is disabled because the device IP Office Phone: 123 is unavaible or invalid." We can get the error message to change by changing the CTI Device Name. Does anyone have any suggestions on what may have changed?
