Does CRM 7.1 work?

I tried upgrading my CRM 7.0 to 7.1 with the 4.5 upgrade of MAS. I don't have a dashboard, just a "not found" error. There's a reference in the coaching window that if I don't have a dashboard, the dashboard welcome screen will appear and I can press the -new- button to make my own. There's no Welcome screen, and I suspect the -new- button is on that screen because there doesn't seem to be any way to create a dashboard.
This was initially an upgrade from 7.0 but after a couple days troubleshooting and reinstalling, I did a complete uninstall and installed a fresh copy. It was all working nicely at EES 4.4 and CRM 7.0.
Any feedback is appreciated.

I work with Peter with all of my CRM clients and they are quite knowledgeable about the product.
Yes, it will probably cost you a few dollars but can you afford to keep spending days on getting it to work? CRM is unlike any MAS module out there and is really difficult (if not impossible). Yes, you have gotten this far on your own so it might be a quick 10 minute conversation.
