Hello, this week we started having problems with all the custom reports that we have created using Business Insights in MAS 90 V4.3. At first when we ran the reports, the report generator will crash and close. Then after modifying the existing custom report and regenerating the .rpt file The error was the following. (Creating view could create view. SaveView() Failed to create ChildDS descriptions DS:COMMISSIONS:3740 ReadExpressionFiltered()…………. (its about half a page of error line by line description)

When trying to re-run the existing custom reports that we had the message displaying was "You cannot run this report as the data is in use by another task" So after going to the knowledge base for sage and searching that under Business Insights, the “possible workaround” was to go to Library Master > Utilities > Rebuild Business Insights Reporter Views. After running that the outcome is still the same. I have no idea which way to turn now, any help or guidance in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Also when trying to modify or create a new Custom report after selecting the table the list with available fields would not load anything to pick from. In other words the Business Insights Reporter is completely dead. I have been able to replicate our custom reports using MS Access and connecting to MAS 90 that way.

Just to confirm a few things.

Business Insights Reporter   or Business Insights Explorer (pretty sure you are talking the reporter, but sometimes people get confused)?

At all workstations or just one?  My try uninstall and reinstall of workstation set up.

MAS 90  not MAS 200?

Have you rebooted the server and workstations?

Tom, to answer your questions:

1. Its the Business Insights Reporter.

2. it happens on all workstations and even on the server when trying to run-create any custom report.

3. MAS 90

4. I reinstalled workstation setup on a couple of stations and nothing changed.

5. I have rebooted the server and workstations already and no change.
