In MAS 4.3 is there a way to change the Default Order Type to Quote?

I tried going into custom office - User Defined Field and Table Maintenance, Advanced Field Settings for Sales Order Header.

Added  Order Type, Validation-Default Value = Q, but it doesn't seem to work.

Before you start an order, click the DEFAULTS button in the upper right.

The defaults were changed and answered yes to the Do you want to save the values . . . for future Order Entry sessions? screen.  Now we cannot change the Order Type from Quote.  Went back into default several times and changed the Order Type to Standard and then answered yes to the above question (also tried to answer no)  And the Order type is just grayed out with Quote as the only type of order we can now enter.  Has anyone else run into this?
