Can't really stop it elegantly. It won't roll back. You should ALWAYS back-up your data prior to running something like this. People have been known to delete all inventory, merge ALL customers into one. These are not recoverable.
A quick copy of the company folder to a local machine will do the trick.
Reboot your computer and try again tomorrow. You cannot even edit the Del/Chg/Merge file while people are logged into inventory, sales, or purchases and just editing the file will keep them locked out.
