Saw this under support and was wondering if this was a widespread problem. I have contacted clients but I was wondering from the forums how many people applied the fix or had the actual problem.
Some systems using the Inventory module on 4.40 have reported errors in costing resulting from values in temporary fields not being cleared after registers have been run. A utility to test company data for these issues is included in PU7. For more details on this issue, please click here.

I've identified one client with the problem and have been working with tech support to get it fixed. They have a number of utilities to correct the problem. Costing accounted for only about $6,000 out of $13 million in inventory.
Note that it is not easy to spot. My client originally noticed it because FIFO layers were not being released properly. Only until working with tech support did we realize that there were some costing issues.

So if I run the SYZCON and run "IM_CommitCheckClear_Utl" and there are no errors, everything is fine and I should
just apply the hotfix? Or do I need to do nothing.

From what I understood, apply PU 7 as soon as possible. Apply the hotifix regardless of whether the utility finds anything to keep additional problems from occurring.
If the utility does find something to fix, there are some additional procedures to go through to get everything fixed up. I won't even try to detail those here. Had me confused and I would much prefer to have a Sage Tech assist with it.
