MAS200 e-business store inaccessible from outside office

hi folks - I manage the e-biz for my former employer in California remotely from my home in New York. MAS200 4.05. The web engine resides on a Windows XP machine in their office; the MAS200 server is on a Windows Server 2003 R2 machine there as well, and the whole caboodle is connected to a SBS 2003 machine. Our website is hosted in another location. No major problems until suddenly yesterday I started getting a http 400 bad request when I try to browse further in the store than the home page (i.e. I can get to the Specials page, but if I click on an item or a category it throws the htttp 400). The store works fine if I browse when I am logged in to the Terminal Server or other machine in their office...they are claiming they have changed nothing there, but I have my doubts based on past...shall we say indiscretions...anyone ever seen this problem? you can witness for yourself at www.dtcgrip.com - click "Enter Store" button....thanks!!

Kevin,

Your site works fine for me.  I'm in Houston, if that tells you anything.

that's interesting...you can navigate around in the store itself?

edit...it appears the problem is confined to my computer only...how convenient! thanks for the reply, Justin and sorry to rattle the cage.

Works fine from Philly.  I went through several categories and was able to drill down to an item page.

What changed on your machine.  What about the big microsoft security patches?  What browser are you using.  I'm still on Explorer 6.  No problem with Firefox 3 either.

Ditto Steve.  I also added an item to my shopping cart and then viewed the cart.  No problems.  I'm using both Firefox 3 and IE 7.

This is very similar to the problem I mentioned in the other thread.  A customer would call and say they couldn't get past the main page.  I'd try it and it would work fine.

A couple of times I got it to happen to me, but it always seemed to resolve itself.  You might try deleting cookies, restarting your browser, rebooting, etc. to see if that clears it up.

Re: MAS200 e-business store inaccessible from outside office

I am starting to suspect Microsoft's latest turd, IE8, is the culprit...I will be running some tests and post what I discover...thanks for all the shout-outs from the e-biz pros out there.

Re: MAS200 e-business store inaccessible from outside office

Kevin,

You should have firefox installed, if for no other reason than to see how your web site appears to a large base of shoppers.  I don't know the current statistic, but it used to be about 30% in USA and over 80% in Europe were using Firefox.

EBM, like many other platforms, appears differently from one browser to the next depending on how the programmers implement the html "standards".

howdy Steve - it works fine in every browser I have tried except IE8, so my previous suspicion seems justified...I'll see if I can identify the specific problem and post it here...ciao
