Restrict salesman's lookup to their own accounts

I am trying to restrict e.g. customer maintenance for salesman to access just their own accounts.  I locked the customer number field leaving the F2 function active.  I made a custom lookup selecting only each salesman's accounts and made each salesman's default lookup the one for his accounts.  That all works fine....BUT how do I disable or hide the filter or custom buttons in the lookup.  I can't find that screen in custom office nor could I find a role I could uncheck in role maintenance.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Did you edit the lookup through Library Master?  The "locked" checkbox is in the user lookup wizard there.

Re: Restrict salesman's lookup to their own accounts

That was it.  Thanks once again Dawn.  :smileyvery-happy:  I looked at the user wizard in LM but  didn't go all the way to finish so I didn't see the lock box.

I mistakenly thought it was the same as in the application lookup.

The lock eliminates the custom button and locks the selection so that even if you add another filter it become an "AND" to my locked selection.

Rap,

This is interesting.  Does this prevent salespeople from entering new accounts?

We have them use the next number feature (pound sign) and that way they can add a new customer.

Re: Restrict salesman's lookup to their own accounts

Do salespeople put in or have access to sales order?  If so, do you restrict that also?  I can see where they would be able to open a sales order, then click on the customer record.  They could then access the last purchase history to see what they buy and what they pay.

I'm curious what your primary concern is.

Re: Restrict salesman's lookup to their own accounts

Steve,

Yes salesmen enter orders.  Management does not want salesman to be able to look at other salesman's customer's orders/invoices and see what was contained  in pricing and in the attached proposal.  Sales are not inventory items. It is a Service/project business with detailed proposal of what will be done for client in what time period for negotiated costs.
