Hello,
The company I work for sells lighting fixtures, some of them are put together from multiple components. Our customer service department needs to know on the fly how many fixtures we can put together at any given time based on availability of components; when a customer calls to place an order we need to have this information at our fingertips. We don't build the lighting fixtures ahead of time because the same components are shared across different models.
I understand MAS90 would not provide this information in real time, that a check of availability of individual components would have to be necesary. I am wondering if anyone is aware of any modules out there that can accomplish this?
We are in the process of evaluating ERP systems for a new branch of our company and I would like to see MAS90 in there since it has such a great reputation, the current ERP we have in our main office is ancient, outdated and there is no hope to see if being brough to the 21rst century.
I will greatly appreciate your feedback.
Mike.

Hi Mike,
You could accomplish this with a Crystal report that pulls in your bill headers & detail as well as the IM2 (Item Warehouse) file for the available quantities. Basically you would want to calculate how much of a parent you can build for each component, then return the minimum number amongst the components.

Thanks Jim,
Would this be something that can be popped up while you are looking at the inventory screen for the item, or something you would print and have on hand? I am familiar with Crystal Reports, but not in how it integrates with MAS90.

Are the components shared between assemblies, or does each assembly have its' own unique components?

The components can be shared across multiple model numbers, for example we can have the following:
Lamp Base A, B and C
Arm 1, 2 and 3
Head 5,6, and 7
Model 20292 can be composed of Lamp Base A, arm 2 and head 7, but other models can be made from different combinations of the above.
On the other hand we are only interested on how many of a given model number can be made, a customer may call and ask for stock on 20292 and we need to be able to tell at a glance how many we can make, regardless of how many of the other models we can make.
Once a given model goes into a sales order the component inventory needs to reflect this reduction.
I hope I did not make it more confusing.
Thanks.

I did this for a client; the BOMs were one level deep. It would be a nightly upload to their site. MAS doesn't do this out of the box, but could be done with a regular recalculation.
