Just upgraded a client from 4.3 to 4.4, they don't have the inventory module but use purchase order. Everything they order is a special (*) item but in 4.4 the unit of measure defaults to EACH for special items and I can't find anywhere to change this. Anyone know a workaround or why this is?
Thanks
Bernie

This isn't new; EACH was the default in older versions as well.

I realize that EACH was the default in 4.3 and prior versions, the problem is after the upgrade to 4.4 we can't change it to something else whereas in 4.3 we could. I don't know if there is a setting I'm missing or if Sage made a change that is preventing it. Any ideas?

In Common Information under Setup is Unit of Measure Conversion Maintenance.
You can add U/M there.
In Purchase Oder you can change the U/M for an item in the secondary Grid.
The look up in the grid will read the C/I file.

I had tried setting up a unit of measure conversion in PO setup, that is a good idea. However, the field is greyer out in the PO entry screen so it won't let me change it even if conversions exist. On top of this fun, when they try to process a receipt of goods entry they get a message that says "You cannot change default warehouse code" and it won't let them accept the receipt. The warehouse is not on any of the data entry grids because the Inventory module is not installed. Sounds like the PO module is looking for the Inventory module?

Just found a post on the support site about the "Cannot change default warehouse code" message - appears to be a program issue in 4.4 when PO is present without Inventory. Not sure if this is related to my original issue but suspect that it is.

I verified your findings. If Inventory is not integrated some fields are now disabled.
You will probably have to submit an enhancement request.

I had to go into the DFDM and manually add the "000" warehouse code to the items. I couldn't use VI, as when I tried to import into that field it errored saying the Inventory Module is not installed. (they never used inventory or purchased it).
I made a post on it in another thread somewhere.
Maybe try fixing a couple records with the 000 warehouse code and then see if you are able to change the UOM in the PO?
