Unit of measure on Sales Order?

Before I start digging, I thought I would ask:

Has anyone noticed a change in units on sales orders?

We have items as each, box, and case.  We set up the standard as each, the sale as box, and the purchase as case.  We've always been able to sell in any of these, but I just loaded 4.5.02 and now we cannot put the purchase unit of measure on a sales order.  This can be a real problem.

Re: Unit of measure on Sales Order?

Hi Steve,

I just tried this on the ABC demo company, and didn't seem to have any problems.  Is this for any particular order type? Does the same thing happen in SO Invoice Entry?  Do you get any message, or does it just revert back the value to what was there previously?

Let me know what you find out.

These are standard orders.

I get a pop-up box:  CS is not on file.

I get the same thing with SO Invoice entry, repeating orders, and quotes.  However, I can still select the purchase unit of measure with a Master Order.

We just noticed it yesterday morning, after the update.

Well, I just added a Master to see what would happen on conversion, and the "CS" indicator is accepted in the UM field, but the Purchase_UM_quantity is not being picked up.  The EACH price is reflected in the Unit Price field.

Re: Unit of measure on Sales Order?

Hi again Steve,

If you enter the CS conversions (to EACH and BOX) in Common Information / Unit of Measure Conversion Maintenance this will now work.  In ABC there is a CASE conversion already setup but not a CS.

I will have to check if this functionality has changed with 4.5, but hopefully that will get you going.

Re: Unit of measure on Sales Order?

Elliott,

The problem with that is I have 75,000 items.  There isn't a standard case quantity for anything I sell.  One item may have 200 in a case, another item may have only 6.

What value would you have me put in?

Regarding the functionality, we have been doing this since ver 3.31 in 1992.

Did PU 4.5.02 change any of the data files?  I can always revert back to 4.5.01, but then we go back to the problems with PO's.

Re: Unit of measure on Sales Order?

Another reason this is important to us is that people will ask what the case quantity is.  It is much quicker to put the CS into the SO line than it is to bring up the inventory inquiry screen.

Hi Steve,

I will look into this and update you here on the status.  Seems like we changed the functionality in 4.5 PU2.  Please stay tuned.

Thanks.

Can you confirm that the data files haven't changed?  I'm assuming you won't be issuing an emergency fix and I have to undo this.  I'd like to restore the program files to PU1, but NOT reenter all of my data.

Re: Unit of measure on Sales Order?

I just discovered the converse is also changed.

I cannot purchase 1 box if the purchase quantity is 1 case.  This is something we do regularly also.

Hi Steve,

We are working on a solution for this, and will release a hotfix once we get it resolved.

Thanks for your patience.
