Using Price Codes with Price Levels - changing Price Code Maintenance does not change item pricing

Client is on 4.3.17. They use a combination of Price Code and Price Level to set prices for their items. For instance, Price Code A with Price Level 4 equals a cost markup % of 25%. If they change the Markup % in Price Code Maintenance, it does not flow through to the items which are assigned that Price Code/Level combination; the items have to be changed manually. Is this working as designed? Am I missing a utility or button that will force the change through to the items?

Tried this in 4.5 as well, and the results are the same. If I change the cost markup percentage on the price code/level, it does not update the markup percentage on the items. One would think that updating the percentage in the setup option would affect the same setting assigned to the item codes themselves.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Re: Using Price Codes with Price Levels - changing Price Code Maintenance does not change item prici

Ed, do you have Item Pricing set up for the items in question? I noticed that once I set up Item Pricing for a given item, changing the rate on the price code/level in price code maintenance doesn't appear to change the item's item pricing schedule. I think this might be the way it's designed, but I've copied a colleague with your question.

Working as designed.

Any item pricing record you have will take precedence over the price code/price level pricing.

If you want an item's pricing to be based strictly on price codes & price levels, then you should not have a separate item pricing record in item maintenance.

We have found that it is easy for people with access to inventory maintenance to accidentally create item pricing records by trying to use the pricing button to lookup our basic price code pricing.  When someone clicks Accept after looking, an item-specific record is created.  Happily, v4.4 & presumably v4.5 include a price lookup feature in maintenance.

This is a user-created issue. They added the Price Code/Level combination in Item Pricing instead of allowing the system to calculate pricing during SO Entry using the Item Price Code and Customer Price Level. Sorry for the false alarm.
