using mas 90 ver 4.40...
When using misc item charges in a bom, is the cost further reflected to inventory? It says it is ignored on the workorder...
We are using it to track plating costs, and would like it to be reflected into our inventory value.

We use misc charges in BOM & yes, they are included in the final inventory value.
We do not use work order, so I can't comment on that aspect.

I must be missing something, the account field for inventory is grayed out in misc item maintenece.
When closed the job the only cost reflected into inventory were materials and labor, not the misc charge.

No, the inventory account is not available for setting up charges. But the charge amount is part of the final cost of the goods produced & is included in the amount that posts to the inventory account when updating.
If I create a single unit of something using $5 of inventory & $2 of misc charge, my unit cost as seen in inventory maintenance is $7 and my GL posting is as follows:
Debit inventory $7
Credit inventory $5
Credit the misc charge acct $2
Did you happen to put your inventory GL account in the manufacturing cost account when setting up your misc charge?

No, you shouldn't.
If you had put the inventory account in the mfg cost acct, that could explain why your GL wasn't reflecting it -- because the charge would both debit & credit the inventory GL in the same amount, zeroing itself out.

my inventory account is 12000, in the man. cost account I have 41300 (our hot dip cost account)
When the workorder is completed the only accounts the transaction journal says it effects are the inventory account (for the raw materials) and the labor account....nothing with 41300.
am i looking in the wrong place?

We don't use work order & I don't know anything about it.
Is it possible to set up the hot dip charge the same way the labor charge is set up?

sadly, misc charges only work with production entry, not work order. That really seems odd, but thats the way it is.
