When we have Parent and Child items then we can setup it either in Kit or BOM. I want to make sure when you use BOM then can NOT use Kit or you can use both without having any problem in SO. 

If we use BOM then I believe we need to use WO to assemble parts together, not sure if use BOM with Inventory Adjustment to add Parent then Mas will pop-up all components for that Parent item or we have to enter each component manually. That will be time consuming if WO can do this fast, only need to buy this module with BOM.

We use VI import SO invoice batch and can not catch those no stock items before the VI import that created Negative Qty. all the time.  We have internal issue to match the 3rd party web orders real situation (item has NOT stock to ship) but billed in Mas.  Plus we have Parent and Child issue then how to deal with all the problems like this?

If you do not have BOM then you cannot use the Kit feature in inventory. If you use BOM you can use production entry in BOM, you do not need Work Order unless you want to add labor from a shop floor or assign a purchase order to a work order.

We did use Kit while we do not have BOM so far.  I forgot the production entry is in BOM module. Thanks to remind me.

I tested if Kit did not generate in Inventory Adjustment or in BOM production entry, the VI import SO invoice batches used Avg. Cost (we use FIFO) for this Kit.  The Kit will be negative qty. and the real cost from components did not post to anywhere, no transaction qty. (sold) for components.  

We don't have BOM module but we have more than 50 items should use either Kit or BOM to reflect the real cost and keep history in Parent and Child items. Do no use SO just use VI import SO invoice batch in operation. This is why we have lot of items need to be edited in physical count. We update SO invoice batch without checking Kit or Parent has generated sufficient qty. before the update.  Which way is the fast way to create the Kit or Parent items before the update?  VI import and update procedure only have 1 hour apart.

To generate the Parent item for Kit, should use BOM production entry instead of using Inventory Adjustment Entry that will take forever for each Parent/Child item.  Is that worth to buy this almost retired v 3.71 BOM?

Without using BOM production entry to reflect correct cost then really screws up the cost, inventory qty. and related F/S.
