Issues of Using Community Site Using IE 9

Figured I'd pass this along in case it hasn't been noted yet.  I recently upgraded a computer from IE 8 to IE 9 and discovered that even though I can log in and read posts on the forums, I cannot submit new postings.  If it is a short post, the posting isn't saved and my conact info is the only thing in the post.  If it is a long post, I get a message about HTML formatting even though I'm using the Rich Text tab to create the post.     Maybe it has something to do with the fact that IE 9 supports HTML 5, but in any case, using IE 8 on another computer I do not have these problems when it comes to posting new stuff.

Re: Issues of Using Community Site Using IE 9

Hey Lou, I noticed issues with this site when I upgraded to IE9 last month as well.  I just set it to run in "Compatibility View" and that takes care of it.

It has been working fine for years with Google Chrome...

Thanks for the tip Ralph.  Still trying to get use to this new look and feel of IE 9.

I have similar issues as well with IE 9. I am trying to fight it though and work around it.

I like the changes they made in IE9.  When I first saw that they were going with the "OneBox" and removing the Search Field I wondered what they were smoking at Microsoft because I thought we would no longer be able to easily open a new tab and repeat our most recent search query.  But once I realized they addressed that with the Magnifying Glass icon in the OneBox which brings up your most recent search query, I was fine with it.   Repeating your most recent search requires one extra click than it did in IE8, but the improvement in screen real estate you get by removing the Search Field and putting the tabs on the same row as the URL Field makes it a good trade-off.  Although, it probably only makes sense to leave the tabs on the same row as the OneBox if you have a 16:9 monitor.  It doesn't work as well with a 4:3 monitor.

Okay, that's my two cents about IE9 for now.  :smileyhappy:

I also like the capability of making a site an entry on your start menu.

Re: Issues of Using Community Site Using IE 9

I liked the minimalistic design and the most used pages on a new tab. However, IE9 was keep freezing on me even though I was only looking at MS websites using it!

So, I had to uninstall it and went back to IE8 to manage MicrosoftOnline emails. Otherwise I use Google Chrome.
