Me and My New Car - Insight, Innovation, and Inspiration
As you know from my last blog entry, I have a new car. What you may not know is that everyday when I drive into work I am inspired by it's impressive software to think about innovative ways to improve our software. Just as this software is teaching me how to be a more fuel efficient driver, I am thinking of ways that we could "incent" our users to be more efficient using their accounting systems. Just imagine what we might be able to include in future versions of our software. How about an eco guide with rewards for using paperless office for reports? What a green idea! Or how about if we monitor the use of the accounting system and reward best practices such as performing closing activities on a timely basis, or keeping the Accounts Receivable days overdue down to under 30 days, or anything else that the accounting supervisor deems to be important. We could track many things by user, and then at the end of each day when the user logs out of their accounting software session we could let them know how they are doing against their goals.
How about if we provide a visual indicator of their accomplishments? What would you think about displaying a flower for being paperless? Or some green $$ to indicate that their A/R balances are below the standard for collections, or maybe for average inventory turnover meeting their industry standards? Oh the possibilities are endless!
As you can tell, I am going to be getting a lot of blog mileage out of my new car.
