Moving down the hall before we move down the street
I am excited to be the new Sr. Director of Development for Sage ERP MAS 90 and 200. For the past several years I was in a similar role with the Sage ERP MAS 500 product, and prior to that I had a long history with Sage ERP PFW. My mantra has always been to produce a high quality release on schedule, and I look forward to continuing to do so with the Sage ERP MAS 90 and 200 team.
There are a lot of similarities with these ERP products and how we release new versions to our Customers and Partners. We are all using Agile SCRUM methodology and we’re continuously improving our processes, as well as technology, though knowledge-sharing among the teams.
I stepped into my new Sage ERP MAS 90 and 200 role near the end of the Sage ERP MAS 200 4.45 SQL release. It was a great time to being working with the team as we finalized the new SQL release, and delivered it to the marketplace. The team and I are very excited about adding Sage ERP MAS 200 SQL 4.45 to our Portfolio; as it is a milestone release enabled by the Business Framework™ modern architecture. We’ve combined the features, ease of use and powerful customization of Sage ERP MAS with Microsoft SQL Server’s efficiency, scalability and flexibility.
I recently visited a local Southern California Sage ERP MAS 200 Customer and was very interested in their business and their extensive use of their ERP system throughout their operations. I plan to visit more Customer sites this year to further embrace this exciting Sage ERP MAS 90 and 200 product line. We’ve already begun development on the next release, 4.5, and I’m working closely with our Product Management team to deliver the best value for our customers with features and functionality the way they want to see it.
Are you wondering what the blog title was in reference to? Well, many members of the Sage ERP MAS 90, 200 and 500 teams occupy the same building in Irvine, California. Sage ERP MAS 500 occupies one side of the second floor, and Sage MAS 90 and 200 occupy the other side. I recently moved my office from one end of the building (down the hall) to the other, allowing me to interact much easier with my new team. In early December, the entire Irvine campus is moving to a new location a few miles away – basically down the street and around the corner. The R&D team is very excited about our move to the new building. We’ve had a core team working for several months to make our new location an innovative and productive environment. I’ve been supporting that team with a dedicated scrum room complete with a Smart board, task boards, mobile white board, LCDs, Projectors, Skype work stations, and web cams. This collaborative environment resulted in work area designs for our new building that will continue to drive collaboration, innovation and efficiency. We’ve also designed our new R&D server rooms and labs with more capacity and usability. Our R&D team members across many Sage products including Sage ERP MAS 90, 200, and 500, PFW, X3, Accpac and Business Works, will all be nearer to leverage best practices and improve cross product communication.
