Excel Export Grayed out - MAS 500

After an update to Windows 7 (and Office 2010), my entire department has lost the ability to export from the Insights / Explore module within the Accounts Receivable area to Excel.

The following items are grayed out - Excel, Excel Template and Word Mail Merge and the following items appear to be functioning - Word Mail Merge Template and XML.

According to our IT department, no settings were changed, just an operating system upgrade.  All had access to perform this function prior to upgrade. So is this a simple rights issue for either the security group(s), the particular user(s) or something more?  Compatitability issue(s)?

Thank you in advance for your answer!!

Which version of MAS500 are you on? I don't think MAS500 supports Office 2010 before version 7.4. We have MAS500 7.3 working fine with Windows 7 and Office 2007 though.

We are on 7.05, Windows 7 and Office 2010. Our workaround for the excel export function is to copy and paste the data.

Re: Excel Export Grayed out - MAS 500

I had the same issue, only it was in MAS200. But this fixed it for me (I needed to move the executables to the Office14 folder):

Business Insights cannot locate the Winword.exe and Excel.exe. In reported cases, it was searching in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 when the files are actually in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11 (MS Office 2003).

  • Copy the files to the ..\Office12 folder (if it exists).
    1. Locate Excel.exe and Winword.exe (for example in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11).
    2. Copy the files to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12.
    3. Close and Reopen Business Insights Explorer.
    4. In the File menu, point to Export Options, and verify that Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel are available.

  • If the issue still occurs, run Microsoft Process Monitor (ProcMon) to monitor system processes in real time and determine the path that Business Insights is using to locate the files.
Note: ProcMon is available at the Microsoft TechNet site.
    1. Download and start Procmon.exe.
    2. In Sage MAS 90 or 200, expand Modules, Business Insights, and Explorer. Double-click any view.
    3. In ProcMon, stop real-time scanning, and locate the ExApp.exe process.
    4. Determine where it is trying to access PID 3728 (Query Directory) for Winword.exe and Excel.exe. This is the path that Business Insights is using to locate the files.
    5. Copy Winword.exe and Excel.exe in the path indicated above.

Office 2010 is supported on 7.4 out of the box. The 7.3 March 2012 PU will support Office 2010.
