We used to pay the freight to ship orders to our customers for almost every sale, so we had the exact same problem. E2B Tek created a customization for us that allowed us to enter the freight cost for an order once we recieved the freight invoice from the carrier, and associate that freight cost with the sales order. It would also distribute the freight cost per SO line item, based on each item's weight. This allowed us to derive a true gross profit figure, per item. The mod worked pretty well for us. I submitted this topic to Sage as an enhancement request, although fortunately for us we no longer need it since we now charge our customers for sales order freight costs. I still think it should be native in the product though.
