Yes, have your reseller do it.

Be prepared to do a LOT of work. Don't expect this to be done in one day!
Jumping from v3.71 to v4.5 is basically a brand new install. EVERYTHING (except JC, PR, WO and MRP) is brand new.
Test, Test, Test.
And as Big Louie suggests, have your reseller do it!

I don't know if this has been mentioned
, but get your reseller to do it. (or at least assist!)

Those that are worried about cost for a large upgrade can ask the reseller to plan for things they can do. We did that in one 4.05 to 4.40 upgrade. We scheduled time to show the client what needed to be done, and they did the grunt work. It saved 25% of the cost right there.

Update your resume, then...
Make several back-ups. Make a complete back-up of your server if you are going to do this yourself. Or more appropriately, now is a good time to install a new server as well and set up 4.5 on the new server.
Set up a complete test system (server and workstation). Perform the conversion on your test system. Check ALL of your forms and reports. Most of these will have to be recreated. When ALL of this is done and you are sure you will be able to continue working, back up all the test system.
Then, your final step will be to reconvert your live data into the test system again and make sure it is all still working, including the forms.
If you have any customizations, make a list of them. Many of the customizations in 3.x don't have to be reprogrammed into the 4.x system. They can be accomplished with the increased capabilities of ALE, UDF, etc.
If you eat, sleep, and breath MAS as an IT guy, you can probably do this. However, make sure you let your reseller know you are going to undertake this endeavor and have him on-call.
OR: Have your reseller do it. Your business is probably worth a whole lot more than the fees your reseller will charge to make sure it is done correctly, or the amount of money you will lose if you crash the entire system and have to rebuild everything from scratch.
