Crystal Reports XI R2 installation with 7.4

We recently downloaded the 7.4 install files, and it appears that everything I've installed thus far has been successful except Crystal Reports XI R2. The file we downloaded is named "CrystalXIR2.exe", and I've tried installing it three times now. The install appears to complete normally, but nothing appears in the Start menu. I've poked around the Program Files folder, and nothing there appears to be the Crystal GUI. The co-worker who downloaded the files is having the same symptoms. Am I missing something? Do we now launch Crystal from somewhere inside MAS 500? Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Re: Crystal Reports XI R2 installation with 7.4

Crystal Reports XI R2 no longer installs the COM components that interface to Crystal Reports. In order to develop reports for Sage MAS 500 the developer must have these components installed. This install places the Crystal Reports COM components in the appropriate place and make the proper registry entries. There is no UI for these components.

[ Edited ]

Thanks for the info, Robert.   So then, how would one go about editing a MAS 500 Crystal Report file on a PC that has these "Crystal Report COM components" installed?  In other words, how would someone bring up the Crystal Reports XI R2 user interface (which doesn't exist)?

Re: Crystal Reports XI R2 installation with 7.4

I'd like a clarification as well. It's just a matter of time before I'll need to start upgrading my clients' Crystal reports, and I'm going to need an editor. How do I edit Crystal reports?

CrystalXIR2.exe is a self-extracting exe, it is not the installation program. There are two steps after you downloaded the file.   First you need to extract the files on your hard drive from CrystalXIR2.exe then you run the setup.exe from your hard drive folder.

Thanks for your help. I was able to locate the extracted files and install from there.

Re: Crystal Reports XI R2 installation with 7.4

Does anyone know if Custom Reports / Forms needed to be re-written completely from Crystal 10 to Crystal 11 R2?  Or do that .rpt file automatically upgrade or upgrade when you save them as a Crystal 11 file?  Not seeing much information on this in documentation.

Crystal Reports XI R2 will properly load and run reports from Crystal Reports 10. If you load the RPT file into the Crystal Reports XI R2 designer and save them they will be converted to version 11 format.

Re: Crystal Reports XI R2 installation with 7.4

We had to make some modifications to our Purchase Order to include fields that are new with regards to the enhanced rounding/UOM in 7.4 as well as have our Deposit Slip tweaked to include Misc Cash Receipts in the total.
