Does a "Counter Sale" sales order still need to go through the picking, shipping, committing process if it is a non-inventory item? If so, is there any difference between using "Counter Sale" or using "Ship"?

It is sort of similar but with "Counter Sale" you can do the Pick/Pack/Ship/Commit process from the Sales Order screen in a slightly more streamlined process since it is all one window. Next to the Payments Button you will see a Process Order button for "Counter Sale" orders.

But I can use the "Process Order..." button for a "Counter Sale", "Ship" or "Will Call" delivery method. The all seem the same in terms of functionality. The only delivery method that seems to function differently is the "Drop Ship" delivery method.
Below is the screen that pops up after clicking "Process Order...". You can see the delivery method types that can be processed.

The Ship Method and the FOB are not available on lines where the delivery method is Counter or Will Call. Sales tax is calculated based on the warehouse tax schedule for both of these delivery methods. Also, the warehouse must allow immediate picking for both of these methods. Otherwise, there isnt much different -- you still need to go through the shipping process same as you would for Shipped delivery method.
