Hello again,
I have recently been trying to get receipt labels printing. The solution found on that thread works nicely, sort of. Here is the explanation of the sort of:
I first set up the receipt label printing in the test company. It worked fine, but the labels it printed were not really what we are looking for. It only prints out one label for each item number received. So, if we received 5 of one item number, we still only got one label. In the test company, I created a report that includes the solutions from this webpage, like my earlier post. I had to modify the instructions from the post. If I don't include a field that has the NUMBER field from the Excel sheet, it still only prints out one for each item number. So, I include a suppressed field on the form for the NUMBER field in the Excel sheet and everything works just liek we want it.
However, I then try the exact same thing in our real company and Crystal errors out. A little more info:
Trying just the original form gives me one label per item number, like in the test company. So, I included an Excel sheet (the same one as the test company though moved to the correct company folder) and went through the same process of joining the Excel sheet to the MAS info. I used the exact same join structure as in the test company. Then, to check, I tried to preview the new form and Crystal freezes for about 10 seconds and then exits. When I reopen the form, the form has reverted back to its default and I have to start over.
Here are some of the things I have tried to figure out what is actually happening:
1. I tried viewing the default form in the real company. This worked, but only printed one label per part number. I can view it, can print it, the whole nine yards.
2. I tried joining the default form to the Excel sheet. This actually also works for one label per part number like above.
3. As soon as I try putting the NUMBER field onto the report from my Excel sheet, everything breaks and resets.
So, its obviously something wrong with the field from the Excel sheet, but the exact same field worked fine in the exact same report in our test company. If anyone has any ideas as to why that may be, I would be very grateful to hear them.

We use a program called BarTender for all of our label needs. Printing receipt labels based on the number of items received is very easy with this program.

BL uses Bar Tender? Is that irony or what!
I use a similar program called Label Matrix in conjunction with a Zebra bar code printer. Very easy to use and very PAINLESS!

Sounds like something is wrong with your link fields. Check that your fields are identical. Note that opening an Excel worksheet that has a numberic key field stored as text (left aligned by default) will be converted to a internal number format if re-saved.
I also use Bar Tender with advanced scripting to queue labels from any MAS program such as Receipt of Goods or Sale Order Entry. They can then be printed where there is a label printer.

I have checked the fields, and they are indeed identical. I have copied the excel file from the test company to the real company so I know that is the same as well. Still no luck.

Does "no luck" mean that Crystal "freezes for 10 seconds then exits."? Does this fail on the run-time version (on the menus) the same as it does in the full version? I've had configurations that fail in the full version and run okay in the run-time environment. Also, have you tried downloading the latest Crystal Reports service pack? That's helped me before with issues where Crystal would just unexpectedly vanish.

We print all of our labels ( Shipping and Three different Inventory Labels) using crystal with no problems.
If you are only getting one label per item per receipt, make sure you have "By Item" selected in Item Maintenance - 2.Additional tab - Print Receipt Labels.

Sorry for the long delay. I got pulled off this project and had to finish another before coming back to this. Joe's solution works wonders, in the test company. It removes the need for linking the Excel file into the report, so I assume it will work well in the normal company as well. I'll be implementing it tonight and I'll let you know tomorrow after the receipts are run.
Thanks everyone for your contributions.
