Office Merge email templates

In pre 4.x framework, the MAS90 Office link appeared to allow you to create an email template.

In the 4.x framework, the Office Merge link appears to only allow you to create excel or word templates.

 

The goal is to have different email templates based upon conditions to notify the customer of their RMA status. Paperless office appears to allow only one email template, and attaches the document.

 

We don't necessarily need to attach the document, simply merge the RMA number, customer info, email of the sending person, and predefined text.

 

So need multiple templates to auto fill the sender's email and the desired text statement.

 

Am I missing something obvious, or is this as difficult as it looks?

The electronic delivery feature of paperless office only allows you to have one email template, and attaches the document to the email.

 

I'm looking for multiple email templates and sending only the email with merge data fields so the customer does not have to click on an attachement to see the information.

 

It looks like the only way to do this is creating a custom office button with a vb script to open outlook and do the merge fields.

 

Any other thoughts are apprecieated.

I would use Business Alerts (recently supplanted by KnowledgeSync) that uses the RMA status to drive the content of the e-mail to the customer.  I recently set up a business alert for our consumers who would need the shipping information but wouldn't really need an invoice-Paperless Office doesn't let you put the tracking number in the body of the e-mail.

The Office Merge link has largely been abandoned.  I tried working with it recently and had issues and when I talked with someone at Sage they expressed surprise that anything even happened when I clicked the button. The technology behind it has been abandoned by Microsoft.

 

If you goal is to have different e-mail templates based upon conditions to notify the customer of their RMA status, well we do that already although we use ASI Service Center. We use Knowledge Sync and it fires off an e-mail when there is a change in status. It tells them when the product gets to the warehouse, when it is being worked on, when the repair is finished and when the item is shipped out.  As noted I would look into Knowledge Sync.
