You cannot use VI to delete records.

Can I use v/i to merge them to a junk b.o.m. part number?

No. VI basic function is to write records to tables. It does not have the logic to remove records and certainly not to merge them. In BOM you can use the Change Control to manage components.

oh, this should work
At least v/i can populate the table for me. I have about 4000 b.o.m.s to delete and didn't want to key them by hand.

Actually it will not. When you try this it will fail with the message that Bill of Materials exist. Your best option maybe to use VI to Export the BOM file and then re-init and then re-import. If you want to try this method I cannot urge you strongly enough to do this in a backup company until you get it right.

You can use BOI to delete though.

Thanks Dawn!
I'm not certain how savvy my reseller is with BOI, but we are getting together to use v/i to import work order transactions so I will ask him about it then.
Thank you and BL for the suggestions!

What is BOI? I have successfully written a VI job to import BOM's but I have to manually delete them first. I would like to automate deleting them too. I am on version 4.3 and I don't see a BOI file.
