Credit Card Processing

We are finalizing our implementation of MAS 200 and deciding on Credit Card Processors.   Can anyone tell me if you use Authorize.net for your processing and if you have any issues with integration or otherwise??

Re: Credit Card Processing

Welcome to the Sage Community. Most of us have found the using Sage Payment Services and the integrated Credit Card module is the best way to use credit cards with MAS90/200. Very tight integration.

Re: Credit Card Processing

Another alternative would be to use Mercury Payments from ASI.  As long as you don't mind having Mercury Payment Systems as your processor and guaranteed up-time for processing (Mercury offers a stand-in processor in case their primary processor goes down), it might be a good fit.  Mercury has a history of working with Authorize.net, so I don't see any problems there either.  Send an email to contact@asifocus.com if interested.

Re: Credit Card Processing

Have had good luck with Sage Payments and with the integration of the SPS built into MAS. I believe Sage (perpetually) runs promotions that provide that integration free.

I've not gotten into the middle of most processing negotiations however unless you're selling something high risk (that gets a lot of chargeback) then it seems most of these processors look at what you're paying and undercut it by a bit.

Re: Credit Card Processing

I switched over all my clients from PC Charge to SAGE Payments, far easier to use and implement.

Plus, like Wayne says, its free I believe. (minus maintenance).

Can anyone outline the real actual differences in processing through Sage Payments vs using PC Charge and my processor of choice?

Re: Credit Card Processing

With PC Charge you'll need to maintain a separate maintenance and support plan and deal with a third party on support. Also, the last I had heard,  in the not too distant future PC Charge support will be going away in favor Sage Exchange and Sage Payment Solutions.

In general the Sage Payment integration to MAS 90 is easier to setup because there is no separate PC Charge server to maintain/upgrade -- the Sage Payments is all built in --  and works pretty flawlessly out of the box.

The PC Charge support requires an additional agreement with the PC Charge folks. While that's not expensive (I think per call is under $100 per call) I typically prefer not to deal with PC Charge as it usually is a round of finger pointing about whose software is at fault, etc.

Re: Credit Card Processing

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Very helpful.

What about any differences in the actual day to day applying of credit card payments? Is there any?

I have conflicting information about wether I would need to manually batch out the PC Charge, and if I would need to then "import" that setllement data back into MAS? Someone I know who used PC Charge said that was not the case, but someone else is telling me they think that is how it works.

Re: Credit Card Processing

Functionally and procedurally I'm not aware of any differences.

Re: Credit Card Processing

The same is true with both PC Charge and with SPS, once you settle, you need to enter your credit card settlement to offset the credit card clearing (asset) account, and debit the bank account (this also records the settlement to bank rec).
