Sage MAS 90 and 200 Extended Enterprise Suite

We would like to set up a test install of EES 1.4.  We know how to do the MAS piece of EES parallel upgrade. 

1. How would you go about setting up a test environment for the SageCRM component to make sure the integration is working properly prior to a live conversion? 

2. Has anyone upgraded between these 2 versions and have any comments about how the process went?

I upgraded a customer 1.3 to 1.4 just last month.  The SageCRM integration was no issue.
