The Connector license is not needed to run the standard out-of-the-box reports. It is only needed if you want to add or edit fields in the native/default containers, or create new containers pointing to other tables, views, or datasources. My guess is that just about every organization using SMI will want the capability that the Connector license provides, but it is not needed to run the standard reports.
You say you "can't see them." As in, they don't appear in Report Manager or Report Viewer at all?
