Yearly Trend Report

Looking for tips in creating a 5 yr P&L trend.  I've successfully created one for current yr (year in the parameter) and 1 year prior but am having trouble with getting anything prior to that.

Thanks

Re: Yearly Trend Report

I am also interested in how to do a 5 year trend report.  Can anyone shed some light on how to do this?

Thanks!

Standard financials and custom financial reporting from the menus in MAS.   It ain't gonna happen.

FRX if you still have it,  you can create it with the column formats.   However this is being phased out  (still works for now).

Sage Mas Intelligence should be able to do it as well although I will admit I have not tried it.   If you are up to date on your maintenance,  odds are you should have a 1 user license for it.   Just need to download and install it at which point the learning curve now kicks in for a new feature.

Oops.  Just noticed this post is in the SMI section,  so I suspect you already know everything I just said above.

I'm not positive,  but I believe that a session I was in at Insight in July suggested that 4.5 should have this capability.   In the session we did all sorts of manipulating of the columns to do things like quarterly totals, etc.  I don't specifically remember multi-year,  so no guarantees.

I need the same thing, a 5 year comparison.

Did you ever get an answer? We're using the designer.

Re: Yearly Trend Report

I know Michelle eventually got it to work based on the Alchemex BI Community Postings. So it can be done.

The information I have is:

Step 1. How to create the new expression fields

In the connector app, double click on the connector I am using (in this case the SOTAMAS silent).   This will list the data groups, ie. Financials, Consolidated, etc.   If you double click on a data group, i.e. financials, all the Fields / Expressions will display.   I copied the PYActivityPer01 expression and changed the name to PY2AcitivityPer01.   Then I changed the SQL expression from select FISCALYEAR -1, to FISCALYEAR -2.

Step 2. To get it to be available on your report layout.   I Opened Report manager and clicked on my report.   I clicked on the Columns Tab (on the right side of the screen)   This shows all the data fields available to the report.   I clicked on ADD, and the new PY2 fields I had created were avialable. So I added them to the list.

Step 3.   I ran my report, then clicked on BI tools to edit a layout.   Now I can see the PY2 fields I created and add them to the report layout

So, I can get the field to show up on my layout, but I can't get any data to show on the output.

In ABC I created transactions for 1/1/11, 1/1/10, 1/1/09 for account 400-01-00.

When I run my report for 2011, it shows data for 1/11 (per 01 activity), 1/10 (per01 py activity, but nothing for 1/09 (per 01 py2 activity).

What is the trick to getting the data on the report?
