I'm new to MAS and am looking to create a PO for a piece part that goes out for plating. Basically, we would machine the part in-house and give it a part number, then we want to send the part out to a plating house, have them plate it, and then bring it back in as a different part number. Is there a way to do this in MAS200 through the purchase order function? Thanks.

Welcome to the Sage Community!
This is very common and most people do one of two things.
1. Work Order - Create a work order, issue out the product and rework expense. When it is done do a completition and bring back into inventory. Do a purchase order for the plating and assign to work order.
2. Do a Bill of Materials production entry with the cost of plating as a misc. charge. You still do a work order for the plating but you cannot assign to Bill.

Thanks for the information. After discussing it with some of the people here, we think that one of these options will work well.
