Let me start by saying I would normally never recommend doing this normally.
Now since I know that Sage has this changed this I would tell you just to change the length of this field in the database. (Again I hate to tell you to do this as I think this is really a bad thing to do)
You may need to make a few changes under the hood to make this all work properly depending on what you are attempting to accomplish.
