up and running live!

[ Edited ]

Hey all,

This is not to boast, that is not my purpose at all. Just wanted to say I have my company successfully up and running live data in 4.4. I had a few small hitches along the way of conversion with some old Modules that were to have been uninstalled from previous updates that MAS 4.4 said they weren't uninstalled. However, that was an easy fix. Also ran into some issues with some of my Custom office and Visual integrator jobs. After a few days of updating some of my old work, everything seems to be running flawlessly (knock knock knock on wood).

If anyone has any questions on anything, I'm not a MAS partner or anything, but I am the head of IT at my bus. and have some knowledge about MAS in general. Feel free to email me if you wish.

*OH and I am running on Windows 7 Ultimate on 1 PC, Win7 Pro on 2 more PCs, and the rest Win XP Pro with a Server 2003 R2 server. FYI MAS4.3 is stable under Win7. I've been running Win7 since September (MS partner). I am fully happy with the setup and haven't come across any glitches in MAS with Win7 or vice versa. Hope everyone else has it as easy with their upgrades!

Re: up and running live!

I have been trying to migrate from 4.3 to 4.4 with the demo ABC Company and ran into an error saying ABC Company contains data using the Payment Application Data Security Standard, which is not supported so cannot be migrated.  Do you process credit cards through Sage Payments?  Our live company does, but ABC Company doesn't have a payment server assigned.  Is that why I'm getting the error?

Re: up and running live!

If ABC is demo data, you can remove it and install it fresh from 4.40 data.

Re: up and running live!

I tried to prepare another company and got the same message.  This company does not even have any customers.

Parallel Migration Wizard:

"Company MRA will not be migrated.  Company MRA contains data using the Payment Data Application Security Standard which is not supported by this installation."

Would this have anything to do with IRD18 for 4.3?  We went from 4.3.09 to 4.3.18.  I can't upgrade from 4.3 to 4.4 until this is resolved.

russlld -

I believe you are getting this error because you updated your 4.3 to the PA-DSS version of Sage MAS 90 (v 4.30.0.18) and are trying to upgrade to 4.40.0.0.  If you install the first product update to 4.4 and then try your migration, I believe this error message will go away.  What it is telling you is that you are trying to move a PA-DSS version of MAS to a non-PADSS version, and that's why you are getting the message.

Re: up and running live!

We are live and running 4.4. From 3.7 believe it or not!. We did have a few hiccups along the way, mostly getting everyone used to the changes. We are running Win7 Pro desktops, Microsoft SBS 08 main server with a Microsoft Server 08 file server dedicated to MAS90. All 32 bit.

Re: up and running live!

Pete and Lance,

Congrats on your successful migrations to 4.4!  We're thrilled you made the move to 4.4.  This has been a lot of change for you.  What are the top five things you like best about version 4.4?

Re: up and running live!

I stumbled across your post and am encouraged - we are migrating from 3.71 to 4.4 in 2 weeks.  Did you have the Job Ops module as part of your migration?   Any feedback on how your users adjusted to the new environment?  We have a 30 user environment across multiple states so I'm hoping for limited required training.

Anything you can share would be appreciated -

Thanks!

Re: up and running live!

I have converted users from 3.71 to 4.40 (and similar migrations) and I would not under-emphasize the training.  It can be a learning curve but once users get used to it they will be sure to appreciate all the new functionality.
