What are the advantages, disadvantages of SQL vs Non_SQL for MAS200?

One advantage is reporting speed. Crystal Reports run much, much faster against larger data sets when run off a SQL database versus a non-SQL database. Note that this applies to reports run DIRECTLY against SQL -- not work table reports.

I believe the price per user is going up for SQL (vs 200 PVX).

December 1 the price is going up. So if you want to buy SQL, it's only free until December 1 (second year forward you still need to pay extra maintenance). After December 1 you need to actually pay a fee to migrate to SQL.

Check to see what modules they would need (or have also). Legacy Modules aren't available for the SQL versions (payroll, job cost, etc)

And don't forget that some financial applications aren't available for SQL:
- F9
- FRx
- SMI (although I hear this is coming in the future)
The legacy modules not available:
- Job Cost
- TimeCard
- Payroll
- Work Order
- MRP
Starship is not available for SQL because there is no Starship link built into 4.50.
JOB-OPS and probably other master developer enhancements aren't available for SQL.
Also eBusiness Manager isn't available for SQL. (eBusiness Web Services is an alternative.)

Besides speed in generating reports, what other advantages does SQL have?

You can have SQL back up your transaction logs on schedule -- e.g. hourly so it's possible to restore to a point in time.

The reporting speed and backup feature are not an issue right now with
us. We are on MAS200 with 20 users. Why go thru the extra cost of SQL
(i.e. Server and licenses) when the benefits don't out weight the costs?
Thanks
