This is only my second upgrade and 3rd install. We have always had help from outsourcing while doing upgrades in the past. I will be installing/upgrading 4.4 to 4.5 on a brand new server. I want to know if it is best to install 4.4 and move data/folders over on new server and THEN upgrade/install 4.5 OR just anyway to start fresh with 4.5 install and move data/folders over for some type of conversion. I am a little scared of whats involved with the conversion because of the change from ProvideX to SQL. Can anyone tell me briefly what will be involved during the upgrade? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Sage Community. If BOTH servers will be on the network at the same time you could do a fresh install of v4.50 on the new server and do a parrallel upgrade. If the old server will be taken off line then first move v4.40 as per instructions and then install v4.50 and do the upgrade. Also you indicated SQL, are you on the SQL version or are you moving from Providex v4.40 to SQL v4.50? Why will you not be having help from your reseller now?
You should go to the Sage web page and download the Installation and System Administrator's Guide.

If your reseller has been difficult to get in touch with then you might consider a new reseller. Also this type of situation is where resellers make good money, coming in and cleaning up botched upgrades and moves. Resellers have to go to class to learn how to do what you are attempting to do and here you are trying it yourself, just saying. If you are not going to have them do the upgrade I would at least review your plans with them. If it were me I would ask good old Dawn aka DFeller on here her thoughts. She knows at least twice as much as the rest of us and might be able to give you some hints on "gotchas" to watch out for.
