I have used VI before. However, today when I prepared a new Job in VI to import data from an Excel file, both from an exisiting Job and from a newly created Job, I get an "INVALID RECORD" error message for each line in the file. The Excel file was saved as a CSV file and I checked that there is no data outside the data I want to import, no headers, etc. What is the problem likely to be?

Wish I could help but you have not given us enough information to go on:
1. What tables are you importing into.
2. What fields are failing with "Invalid Record"
3. Note that when in Excel and saving as CSV you have to be careful that "00" does not turn into "0" or "0012345" does not turn into "12345" which is why you should only re-open the file with WordPad.

I went to the bookstore and asked the saleswoman, 'Where’s the self-help section?' She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
