VI to General Journal won't import duplicated lines, even though they are valid

MAS90 4.40.1, VI into GJ_GeneralJournalHeader.

My source file has 2 sets of 2 lines (amongst other lines) that are duplicated as below.

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,2622.37

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,902010,,838.26

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,902010,,3.00

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,902010,233.52

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,902010,9660.00

268,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,2941.62
269,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,2941.62
270,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,181.62
271,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,181.62
272,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,183.41

If I take the duplicated lines 269 and 270 and move them to the end of the file, so they are separate from 268 and 271, the import works fine - source file to look like below.  Without moving them 1 set doesn't import or overwrites or whatever, but I only get 1 line for each set.

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,2622.37

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,902010,,838.26

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,902010,,3.00

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,902010,233.52

Paychex,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,902010,9660.00

268,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,2941.62
271,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,181.62
272,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,183.41

269,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,2941.62
270,07/23/2010,Paychex Payroll,1012-00,,181.62

This import works for 2 other companies but haven't encountered the duplicate lines.

The job is below;  I have nothing on the Select or Records Tab:

'Skip Existing Records' is cleared.

Seq N  Column Name              TypeType Oper Col    Mask          Default Value
0001   H.SourceJournal            STR STD   ASSN   1   Start: 1 Len: GJ
 0002   H.EntryNo                        STR STD   RTIM  11   Start: 1 Len:
 0003   H.PostingDate                STR DATE  REPL   2   M/D/Y
 0004   H.JournalComment      STR STD   CALC   7   Start: 1 Len:
        Calc.       {GL_GeneralJournalHeader.PostingDate$}
        Expression:
 0005   H.AcceptOutOfBalance STR Y/N   ASSN   3   Start: 1 Len: N
 0006   H.JournalDeleted          STR Y/N   ASSN   4   Start: 1 Len: N
 0007   L.Temp001                     STR TEMP  REPL   4   Start: 1 Len:
 0008   L.AccountKey                  STR STD   CALC   6   Start: 1 Len:
        Calc.       Temp001$+"-"+"00"
        Expression:
 0009   L.DebitAmount               NUM STD   REPL   5   ###,###,###.
 0010   L.CreditAmount              NUM STD   REPL   6   ###,###,###.

Any ideas?

Nancy

Try removing Seq 10 to import credits from line 6, then change the debits on seq 9 to import from column 6 and not 5. The system knows whether its a credit or debit.

Re: VI to General Journal won't import duplicated lines, even though they are valid

Thanks for the response.

How is the system going to know if it's debit or credit when the numbers are coming in 2 separate columns.  I would understand it all numbers were in 1 column with positive or negative but debits are in 5 and credits are in 6 in my source file.

Thanks

Nancy

My bad!!!! Sorry about that!

I guess I'm just used to dealing with all my imports having 1 column!!!! :-)

Re: VI to General Journal won't import duplicated lines, even though they are valid

Found the problem.  I brought in the L.PostingComment and pointed it to the first field which then made the comment unique for the lines where the $'s duplicated.  If I tried to have it file assign from the H.JournalComment, it still didn't work.  Seems it needs something unique.

Thanks for your suggestion though, I do appreciate it.
