MAS90 version 4.05
I loaded the 941 update according to the instructions, there is 1 new employee that is checked off as a qualified W-11 employee.
However, it is still accruuing the employer portions of the social security.
What am I doing wrong ? Thanks!

You have to set up earnings codes not subject to employer FICA.
The check off boxes only seem to get the 941 to work properly.

Tom, do you have any idea what happens if I load the update after closing the quarter? I can't get a direct response to my question on the Forum. I have called our reseller and Sage, and I am awaiting a response. I'm willing to prepare my Form 941 manually for 3rd quarter if need be. But I really don't want to restore from backup and rerun two payrolls.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

That most likely will be the issue with a large number of my clients. No time to get them all taken care of due to the late delivery date on the patch. However, all is not lost. Just may be a few extra steps in doing your third quarter reports.
From what I have seen so far, loading the update late does not make a difference (there could be something I have not spotted however).
The primary issue is if you have someone that qualifies for the new hire act and you don't use an earnings code not subject to employer FICA, your deposit liabilities will be incorrect and the system will try to balance it through the fraction of cents rounding line.

Tom is correct and the payroll 941 update reports the Qualified employers exempt amount on the 941. The payroll module works as it always has and the earnings code setup determines the taxes. If you only have one employee that is qualified you may want to pay them with the same earning code and at quarter end file your 941 and get a refund for the overpayment or you can set up an earning code and uncheck employer subject to FICA and adjust the fraction of the cents for the difference. If you have tipped employees a special earnings code can not be setup and you will need to either manually modify your liability or get a refund at quarter end.
