It also appears that they've updated the download site by eliminating v4.5 references.........

Nobody commented on this.....
I was going through the instructions for downloading IRD 2011 and saw:
"verify the 2010 Q2 Payroll Update has already been installed"
I am working with 2011 Q3 payroll updates.
Now what will happen if I download 2010 Q2 payroll updates???
Thanks.

Relax a little. The Big Red Letters Are Getting Unnerving. ![]()
I'm going to restate what I said earlier in this thread.
There are tax table updates and there are payroll updates (IRD's). Tax table updates changes rates such as the FICA rate and unemployment limits. Updates or IRD's modify program functionality. They do not affect each other.
There was no 2011 Q3 payroll (IRD) update. That would have been a tax table update.
The important thing here is to make sure that the 2009 Payroll Update (IRD), the 2010 Q2 Payroll Update (this was a mid year update which was highly unusual, normally they are at the end of each year), and the 2010 Payroll Update (IRD) are installed before doing the 2011 Payroll Update.
Just make sure all the ones required for your version are installed per the instructions. If not install them, preferably in the order they were released. If for some reason you skipped one, install that one and all subsequent ones over and you should be OK.

The best solution often comes not from answering the question asked, but understanding WHY the question was asked.
