Re: New Hire Act

Here is the best info I've seen so far on the new HIRE Act..  Note that deposit requirements first quarter and second quarter are different.

Second quarter treatment suggests that an earnings code with subject to employer FICA turned off should work for processing,  HOWEVER,  that does fix the reporting on the 941.  Sage will have to do something with that.

Re: New Hire Act

Greetings,

Yes, the 941 will need some changes, we believe. The challenge here is that the IRS has sent out a couple of drafts of the form, but they keep changing and the IRS has yet to settle on the final format of the new form. Until they do, we can't determine what we need to do to get it ready for you, and we certainly can't project when it will be finished.  So, we will still need to wait a while to determine how to handle this.  Sorry to be so vague; but this is out of Sage's control until the IRS makes some final decisions.  Stay tuned!

Re: New Hire Act

I was just on the IRS website and the form 941 that was stamped with DRAFT as of 04/06/10 no longer has that stamp on it. I'm wondering if has been finalized. Just wondering if Sage has been able to verify this and are now working on the form.

Re: New Hire Act

Do we have any feedback on the revised Form 941? This quarter is extremely tight for us (first payroll in Q3 on 7/2).

Thanks!

Re: New Hire Act

The new form has been available for some time now on the IRS website.  I would think (hope) Sage would be coming out with it soon.

Re: New Hire Act

Everyone,

The team at Sage plans to post the new 941 form by end of day today, barring any unforseen circumstances. Thanks.

Re: New Hire Act

The HIRE ACT eligible wages must be reported in Box 12 of the W-2.  Will MAS 200 be able to do this?

Re: New Hire Act

Ultimately, yes, but that functionality will not be delivered with this 941 change. Look for an update to the W2 form in an upcoming product update.

Re: New Hire Act

Everyone,

The Payroll update containing changes for the New HIRE Act and the Q2 941 for Sage ERP MAS 90 and 200 versions 4.30, 4.40.0 and 4.40.1 has been posted to Sage Online.  The update for versions 3.71-4.2 will be posted shortly.

Please note that it is very important that you follow the implementation instructions exactly as written and perform the steps sequentially to ensure all of your data is tracked correctly.

Re: New Hire Act

Be alert everyone!   Based on the version of the patch I downloaded on 6/30,  I have noticed the following.

The patch does not appear to correct the schedule B information!   But does appear to correct the main page of the 941.

It does not appear to correct the general ledger postings for newly processed payrolls,  the FICA liability is still double the amount of the amount withheld.  The instructions do not mention whether we are expected to create an earnings code not subject to employer FICA as per an early knowledgebase article on the New Hire Act.   Running a payroll without such an earnings code doesn't appear to give the desired results.

Despite the install instructions,  it looks like you do NOT want to rename PRSCHB.rpt and PRSCHP.rpt because no replacement was provided for these.  You get errors that it cannot find the files.

Any input from Sage would be appreciated.
