PR Check date not in current quarter

Payroll for the last couple weeks of September ideally will have an Oct 1st check date. But this cannot be done in Mas90 4.30 correct? Either the check date has to be 9/30 or the quarter needs to be closed to use the Oct 1st check date. If the later is done, does that mean all the earnings and such will be stored in the 4th qtr?

Re: PR Check date not in current quarter

Yes, and that is how it should work, according to my understanding of Payroll law.  Earnings are tracked based on the pay date, not the date in which they were actually earned.  This is why your W2 statements show pay earned in a calendar year based on the last payroll check for the year, rather than what is earned in a calendar year.  So, for example, this year, our company's last pay date for the year is December 18. So my annual taxable income is based on the earnings I have been paid up until that point in time.  Any pay earned from December 21- Jan 1, since it will be paid on Jan 1, will be part of my 2010 income instead of 2009.
